Dr. Antony Surano, postdoc at IPSP-CNR of Bari (Italy), was hosted from March 16th to April 21st 2023 at IAS-CSIC in Cordoba (Spain) under the supervision of Dr. Blanca B. Landa and Dr. Victoria González. This study-visit was partially funded by the EU Project FREE@POC. During his stay Dr. Surano had the opportunity to learn about the latest technologies in olive microbiome characterization and in vitro studies on Xylella fastidiosa. Moreover, at QuantaLab, led by Dr. Zarco-Tejada, Dr. Surano acquired skills in hyperspectral and thermal analysis (remote and proximal phenotypic sensing) to estimate plant biochemical and physiological parameter related to biotic and abiotic stresses caused by Xylella fastidiosa. This study could be helpful in the correlation and parallel application of quick and instrument-free molecular detection tools developed in the frame of FREE@POC project.
